THE SCHOOL

Our School

Angie's Dance Academy UK is a community dance school offering classes in Potters Bar and Welham Green. We offer a wide variety of dance classes to suit dancers of every age, experience level and interest.

The Concept

It is our goal to create a welcoming environment where every student, regardless of ability or skill level, can learn, be confident and above all, have fun while nurturing a love and respect for the art of dance. The aim of the school is to encourage dancers to be the best they can be, by the building of self esteem and fitness through the art of dance. We are also thrilled to welcome dancers with special educational needs, physical limitations or disabilities.

The Atmosphere

Angie’s Dance Academy UK offers classes in Potters Bar and Welham Green. Our classes are held in church halls and community centres offering affordable dance classes for the local communities. All of our classes have a positive and welcoming environment, where students feel safe to nurture their love of dance. We love to dance, and you’ll feel it.

Our History

Originally founded as Sallianne's Dance Studio by Sallianne Cornell, the school offered dance classes in Brookmans Park. As the dance school grew in size, Salliane moved her classes to the Royal Vet College, then Little Heath, and finally to Tilbury Hall at Potters Bar United Reformed Church.

The school offered disco dancing classes for adults and children, with the adult classes changing to line dancing when this started to become more popular.  Along with Adult Ballroom and Latin group classes and private lessons.

Angie started helping at the Sallianne's Dance Studio when she was 15 years old, taking over the line dance classes from Sallianne in 2004. In 2012 Angie bought the school when Sallianne was no longer able to run it, rebranding as Angie's Dance Academy.

Today the school is known as Angie's Dance Academy UK and it continues to provide it's original children's freestyle (a modern version of disco dancing, which covers genres such as street, commercial and lyrical, as well as the traditional disco dance style)  adult line dance and adult ballroom and latin classes along with private lessons.

The school continues to grow and in recent years new styles of dance have been added such as:
Latin in line - offering an alternative to ballroom and latin partner classes, opening the doors to those who don't have partners to dance with
Popdance, - Fun Dance Classes, Parties and Events to Pop Music!
Popdance teach adults, teens, children and tots, fun dance routines to pop music from the 80s, 90s, 00s and current tracks
Inclusive Para Dance - an inclusive dance class for those who would otherwise be excluded.  It's a fun, recreational activity ranging from street to folk dance, giving everyone the chance to dance.
